The Sims 3 "Unrecognized Video Card" and "Unable to Identify Hardware" on Windows 8 Solution

[Scroll down to see the solution] Several days ago I installed The Sims 3 on my new laptop with Windows 8 OS. It worked normally on my PC (Windows 7). But when I started the game on my laptop, two message boxes appeared, they’re “unable to identify hardware” and “unrecognized video card” as shown in the images below.

I went to Option window, it was all set to low and I couldn't change it.

Then I tried to start new game, but the town was all white.

I tried all the suggestions I found on google for hours. Finally I found what causes the problem: the compatibility mode.

If you’re using windows 8 and experiencing the same problem, here is the solution:

1. Locate your TS3W.exe. Mine is in [C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Complete
    Edition\The Sims 3\Game\Bin]

2. Right click on TS3W.exe and choose Properties

3. Go to Compatibility tab, check the box “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” and choose
    Windows 7 from the drop-down list.

4. Click OK

I started the game again after I changed the compatibility mode, and the game went back to normal!! Yaaaayy!!! ^____^

Mengapa Aku Pendiam?

Tak pernah terpikirkan olehku bahwa hari ini akan datang. Hari dimana seseorang yang tidak terlalu mengenalku – aku pun tidak terlalu mengenalnya – mengkritik diriku atas begitu pendiamnya diriku. Orang itu 2 tahun lebih muda dari diriku, tapi mentalnya seperti 2 tahun lebih tua dariku, bahkan mungkin lebih. Atau mungkin mentalku yang masih seperti anak kecil?

Kurang lebih begini percakapannya (aku sedikit lupa)..

“Kok lo diem banget sih? Cep**rit?” Katanya.

“Gapapa..” Jawabku sambil tersenyum maksa.

“Dari kapan?”

“Ga tau. Emang dari dulu kayak gini.”

“Kalo gini lo jadi kayak ga keliatan.. Jangan dibiasain, ga bagus…” Jlebbb~

Ya.. aku memang begitu pendiam. Aku pun sangat tahu kalau aku ‘ada tapi seperti tidak ada’ Tapi apakah aku membiasakannya? Apakah aku menyukai sifatku yang seperti ini? Jawabannya adalah TIDAK!! Orang bilang “Jadilah dirimu sendiri”, tapi aku seringkali berpikir ingin menjadi orang lain karena aku sendiri begitu tidak suka dengan sifatku yang pendiam ini. Sejak SMA aku berusaha berubah menjadi lebih terbuka. Saat masuk kuliah pun aku berusaha bergaul dengan siapapun. Aku rasa saat ini aku mengalami kemajuan. Meskipun hanya sedikit, aku menjadi lebih terbuka dibandingkan diriku yang dulu. Betapa kerasnya aku mencoba, aku tidak bisa serta merta berubah menjadi orang yang extrovert.

Meskipun aku begitu pendiam, bukan berarti aku tidak bisa memiliki teman. Para extrovert seringkali menjauhi para introvert dan pada akhirnya menyalahkan mereka karena jarang bicara. Orang-orang introvert sepertiku sulit sekali memulai topik pembicaraan dan juga merasa canggung berada di kelompok orang-orang yang tidak terlalu dekat dengannya. Karena itu mereka memilih berkumpul dengan teman dekat atau lebih baik sendiri. Wahai kalian para extrovert, jangan minta orang introvert untuk bergaul dan terbuka lebih dulu, tapi kalianlah yang harus mendekati mereka lebih dulu. Jangan merasa canggung jika berbicara dengan orang introvert, anggaplah mereka seperti teman akrab kalian. Dengan begitu, mereka perlahan-lahan akan membuka diri mereka untuk kalian.

-Sapalah aku lebih dulu 2 atau 3 kali, maka di kemudian hari aku akan menyapa kalian lebih dulu.

-Ajaklah aku mengobrol lebih dulu 4 atau 5 kali, maka selanjutnya aku tidak akan canggung berbicara dengan kalian.

Begitulah caraku sebagai seorang introvert berteman.

Untuk orang itu, aku ingin berterimakasih karena setidaknya dia masih ‘melihat’ku dan menyadarkanku bahwa mungkin ada banyak orang yang tidak menyukai sifat pendiamku ini. Tapi aku tetap merasa sakit hati karena perkataannya yang menusuk itu. Rasanya lebih sakit karena dia bukan teman akrabku, mengobrol pun kami hampir tidak pernah, tapi tiba-tiba dia mengatakan hal itu secara frontal. Aku pun ingin meminta maaf kalau dia tidak suka dengan sifatku ini, tapi aku tidak bisa apa-apa karena ini memanglah diriku – inilah sifat yang telah Allah takdirkan untukku – meskipun aku berusaha keras mengubahnya.
